Martial arts are probably the most popular sport in China, because
people of all ages can participate.
Wushu
is a general term which refers to many schools of traditional Chinese
martial art, such as boxing, (shadow boxing and duels), armed combat
using spears, whips, cudgels or swords, and qigong (breathing exercises,
including yinggong through which people will be able to withstand
or exert an enormous force. With several thousand years old, the
martial arts, once used in ancient China to train people for military
purposes, are now practiced as a sport to keep people fit and strengthen
the physique.
Chinese
Wushu has close links with the human body and modern medical science.
Wushu had played an active role in promoting the friendship between
the people of China and other countries.
