Xinjiang is an autonomous region located in northwestern China. With an area of 1.65 million square kilometers, it is the largest province in China. Of its 13 million people, the majority are Uygurs, followed by twelve other ethnic groups. The Tianshan Mountains lies across the region. The 2,000-meter-long Tarim River is the longest inland river in China. Climatically, Xinjiang has abundant sunshine but little rainfall.

Urumqi is the capital city of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. The Heavenly Lake, which is 110km from Urumqi, is a natural lake. The West Baiyang Valley, which is 75 km from Urumqi, has an elevation of 2,250 meters. Tourists can visit a Kazak's yurt and taste their butter tea, roast lamb and cheese. You can also take a ride on a horseback or camel.

Jade, knives, embroidered caps, carpets and silk, Hami melons of Turpan and seedless white grapes of Turpan are the native products of Xinjiang.
