Aiding means moonlight in Uygur language. The Aiding Lake is situated in the southern part of Turpan Basin, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. It is a salt lake with an area of 124 square kilometers and is 154 meters below sea level, which is the lowest place in China.
