The Yulong Mountain

The Yulong Snow Mountain lies 15 kilometers north of the town of Lijiang Naxi Autonomous County. Covering an area of 396 square kilometers with a modern marine glacier, it is the main part and the center of the scenic region of the Yulong snow Mountain and it is also the resort and the nature reserve at the provincial level.

The top of the Yulong Snow Mountain is covered with snow all the year round while at the foot of it the climate is warm like spring throughout the year. The scenery can be divided into four kinds: the alpine snow area scenery, the water scenery, the forest scenery and the meadow scenery.

The alpine snow area scenery refers to the scenery 4000 meters above sea level. The Yulong Snow Mountain is known as "the Museum of Natural Glaciers" for its complete types of glaciers.

The water scenery mainly refers to the scenery along the banks of the Baishui River, the Heishui River and more than ten pools and springs at the foot of the eastern part of the Yulong Snow Mountain.

The forest scenery varies with the change of elevation. Animals and plants growing under different climatic and geographical conditions can be seen on the same mountain.

The meadow scenery is the alpine meadows scattering from south to north.

Now, the Yulong Snow Mountain has become a multi-functional tourist attraction combining sightseeing, skiing and adventuring with scientific investigation.
