Pavilion Sanqing

The Sanqing Temple Complex was first built in the Yuan Dynasty as a summer resort for Liang Wang--the governor of Yunnan at that time. Then in the Ming Dynasty, the Yuhuang Temple, the Haiya Temple, (the Luohan Temple) and the Sanqing Pavilion were built.

Inside the pavilion are 3 characters of "Sanqingjing". "Sanqingjing" is said to be the utmost fairyland in Daoism, where 3 top immortals live: Yuqingyuanshitianzun, Shangqinglinbaotianzun and taiqingdaodetianzun (commonly called Taishanglaojun) and another couplet. The summit is the place where your aspiration should lie. When looking up, many people are seen on top of you! The surface meaning of the couplet is to encourage the climbers to go on striving till they get to Datiange, bit it carries within itself a deep understanding of life: one should be a man of lofty aspiration and go ahead forever.
