It is the largest open market for farm products in Xinjiang. Kashi is s major city on the Silk Road and had a developed commerce over 2,000 years ago. In recent years, the bazaar has become even more prosperous thanks to the government's efforts to open China to the rest of the world. This bazaar is a must for tourists in Kashi.

The Great idkah Mosque in central Kashi is the largest mosque in Xinjiang. It was first built in 1798 and rebuilt in 1838 into what it is today. Covering an area of 2.5 acres, it is fronted by two 10-meter-high towers at either side of the gate. The towers and gate are joined by short walls. The entire mosque makes a majestic, solemn, grand and magnificent atmosphere. Inside the temple are pools of water and white poplars pointing to the sky. The Hall of Worship is 160 meters long and has a seating capacity for 6,000-7,000. Only Muslims may pray there.
